Odysseus, king of Ithaca, is the main character in Homer's epic poem, The Odyssey, and also plays a pivotal role in Homer's other epic, The Iliad.
He is widely known for his cunning and ingenuity, and is also famous for the ten years it took him to return home after the Trojan War, as allegorically attributed to him by the epic poet Homer. He was the son of Laertes and Anticleia, husband of Penelope, and father of Telemachus and Telegonus.
